International Camps
What do they involve?
Travel to another country and join between 8-20 young people of a similar age from various other countries. The age groups of the camps fall within the ranges 15-17 and 18-30 years.
Each Camp has a theme for the activities, including summer outdoor sports, mountaineering, music, dance, photography….and so much more.
You will find everyone speaks English but you have an opportunity to practise your foreign languages.
Most Camps last for one to two weeks.
Students mostly stay with host families or in hostels, but seldom under canvas.
Where could you go?
90+ camps per year
In most years, by April, we have received invitations to send candidates to over 90 Camps, offering 100 plus places to GB and Ireland Camp candidates.
What are the camps like?
The list of recently offered camps gives a good idea of what goes on. While there is no guarantee that these will be repeated in the following years, they often are.
Highly popular
Some Camps are very popular and highly competitive.
How you get started
- Register your interest!
- You will then be contacted by a Rotarian in your area who specialises in Youth Exchange.
- An interview will be arranged for you and your parents at your home.
What does it cost?
General costs for each student:
- £25 non-returnable administration fee due upon acceptance by the club
- Return air fare
- Insurance
- Visa (if necessary)
- Inoculations (if necessary)
Programme specific costs:
- Most Camps have a fee (varies with the Camp)
